Prior to forming CapHarbor more than 18 years ago, our president and CEO, Jim Shaw was a managing director for Cohen Financial, one of the nation’s leading mortgage brokerage and merchant banking organizations. While at Cohen, Jim ran the Southern California operations and was named the top producer for the merchant banking group, which provided construction, bridge and mezzanine financing as well as preferred equity for commercial real estate projects. Jim joined Cohen after selling them the real estate advisory firm that he directed, which had been involved in some of the first commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) offerings and which had advised on billions of dollars of B-Piece acquisitions by various special servicers.

CRA has long-standing relationships and partnerships with many large and small real estate lenders and capital providers and we regularly update our database so that CRA is always knowledgeable of their current lending programs and criteria. With this knowledge CRA can quickly ‘clear the market’ to source those capital providers who are most suitable for any financing requirement.

CRA has dedicated staff members focused on working to provide a solution for your property’s financial needs. Several of the team members of CRA are focused exclusively on capital markets and are ‘in the market’ everyday speaking with capital providers and working on solutions to the financial needs of the properties we are engaged to assist.

CRA has guided many Tenant in Common/Delaware Statutory Trust ("TIC / DST") through loan workouts & modifications, new capital and LLC formations.
